Henry Brant Dies
By Frank J. Oteri
NewMusicBox
April 29, 2008
Henry Brant, pre-eminent composer of acoustic spatial music,
died on Saturday in his home in Santa Barbara, CA. He was 94.
Brant received the Pulitzer Prize in 2002 for his orchestral
work "Ice Field."
"A composer of hundreds of works," reports NewMusicBox,
"many featuring enormous and unique ensembles such as 80
trombones, Brant was one of the last surviving members of
the original generation of early 20th-century American
maverick composers."
