It would be helpful to look at the whole picture, rather than across the board discrimination based on a single criteria. Perhaps it is because many in that group practice the live and let die approach, and they tend to collect bees from the feral population which may have some resistance to start.
I did have my own trial and it mirrors the

If I recall, your trial was small cell amongst colonies that were being treated in you apiary and or near to you, this is not live or let die, but perhaps a ‘help live and they will live to kill others approach‘.
