> Will the beekeeper that has NEVER suffered a devastating loss please speak up so that you may be recognized as a good beekeeper, sufficiently credentialed for the practice of lecturing others how to manage bees.
I wouldn't pay attention to anyone who has NOT suffered devastating
losses. But I also wouldn't pay attention unless they have a
prolonged track record of recovery and avoidance of such losses.
I personally have been keeping bees for most of my life, and currently
eke out a living at it. I still don't feel qualified to tell anyone
how to manage theirs. The best that I can do is to explain one's
options, and what general experiences are. There are lots of ways to
successfully keep bees; far fewer if you want to make a living at it.
When successful commercial beekeepers, such as Bob or Allen on this
List, are willing to share their hard-earned knowledge, I listen.
What is of interest to me is to view their observations through the
lens of scientific knowledge, and to then try to make sense of it.
