Ed, as the words of the song go, "You say tomato, I say  

potato" (well, close enough for you to get the point).



There are all kinds of things you can do with whisper dishes.  You  

can play around with finding how far off axis you can get and  

maintain projection and reception; you can play around with how far  

away from the focal point works; you can play around with with  

happens if people get in between the whisper dishes.  you can 'send'  

hidden messages to people walking by, you can have fun by finding out  

how soft or loud you have to be - the point is, the opportunities  

don't have to be as limited as you imply.



One of my earliest memories from a science center/ or perhaps from a  

pavillion at the '64 Worlds Fair, is the excitement I experienced  

discovering the whisper dishes on display.  It obviously made a  

pretty big impact on a nine year old.....
