Subject: Creationists at National Teacher Convention
I'm a science teacher in New Jersey and I've come across something very disconcerting, and frankly I don't know what to do or what can be done. It seems that Answers In Genesis has secured booth at the exposition during the national convention of the National Education Association this weekend in Philadelphia. I have no idea how or why the NEA approved their expo application, but I think we need some answers.
The AiG folks are keeping a running diary of their efforts at the convention using the following blog address:
http://blogs.answersingenesis.org/blogs/nea-2007
How does this happen? How is it that a creationist organization is permitted to spread their religious fundamentalism at a teacher's convention! I have made some initial inquiries with my local teachers' union which is a subsection of the NEA, but I won't be holding my breath for any answers. I've put a short post on my meager little blog ( http://chemjerk.blogs.com/chemjerk/2007/07/creationists-at.html) looking for answers, but I'm hoping you can help.
Please look into this.
