The ClassicalNet community may be interested in the early results of
my summer experiment, posting a Suite of four videos (over four months),
each of which pairs my music with my husband's art. The musical genre
changes for each movmeent, and the third movement is for the largest
forces: wind ensemble.
MVT 3: "BEASTS", 7:00 and confrontational!, ready to view at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DNr6XFT6z1Fo
[ The music is "Growler", mvt 1 of SYMPHONY for WIND ORCHESTRA in Three
Scenes. ]
The most amazing outcome of the videos so far is how many people around
the world are corresponding privately about the music, which they are
first encountering (!) by way of these widely-posted videos. - The
amazing part is that the music is from already-issued LP/CDs out in 1979,
1995, 1998, 2007. (This was part of the premise for the project, because
I can not endorse composing originally for a royalty-free medium.)
Correspondents in the last 3 weeks alone include viewers in Japan,
Shanghai, the UK, France and Germany, as well as the US a=80' many of
them composers. The relative success of the project so far opens up an
interesting discussion, I think, on the reach, and clout, of this type
of communications channel ....
