I'm just coming into the discussion and don't know if sound from sea  
shells has been mentioned.   We have  variety of large shells and kids  
love listening to the "ocean" -- well, no, it's not the ocean. . . .    
So that's one teaching moment. The other thing to hear with different  
shell is the different pitch one hears from  different shells.  People  
come up with fun ways of describing the different sounds too.  Fun for  
all ages too.
