Are there several reasons for the catastrophic bee mortality rate?
*The so-far elusive reason for the dramatic drop in the bee population is
more probably a mix of several factors according to scientists who
contributed to an international congress on the issue.*
Bees are an essential part of the biodiversity equilibrium. Most of the
almost 20,000 known species of bees feed on nectar and pollen and their
pollination of plants plays a crucial role in sustaining plant, animal, and
human life on Earth. Around a third of what Western populations eat, for
example, is dependant on the pollination of plants by bees, particularly
fruits and vegetables.
