Today's, July 13, 2010, Science Times (NYTimes) has a fascinating article by
Carl Zimmer about new findings about the influence our microbial flora, both
internal and external, have on our health and disease.

Though we are aware of how important microbes are in the environment this
article illustrates how due to advances in gene sequencing we are expanding
our knowledge of how important microbes are to our health. As with most
cutting edge science there are some contradictory results but it is clear
that we need to understand how microbes interact with our bodies to
understand our health and disease. After all microbes, and other parasites,
have been interacting with and influencing our immune system, at least, for
the past 200 million years.
