I have been following the research on Resveratrol and longevity with
interest. It seems that it is number of years until a very expensive
treatment for humans is going to be available. But there is good research
on yeast and mice indicating a significant increase in useful life. It
seems that honeybees fall somewhere between in the animal hierarchy.
If a beekeeper could extend a 6-week life span to 9-weeks in the honey
producing (or pollination) season with the use of Resveratrol, this could
make a significant difference. It would perhaps be financially viable.
As was pointed out in a recent ABJ article, beekeepers in 20 years have gone
form anti-anything-not-natural to hooked on chemicals and willing to
experiment with anything that might help the bees in their numerous plights.
Is this in that category?
