Hi Marianne and Gonneke,

this is indeed what is refered to as 'growth spurts'. So interesting why
days of increased feeding frequency (sometimes also called 'freqeuncy days',
I think, which sounds like something to do with menstruation to me, to be
honest) should be related to 'growth' as if growing is the only reason for
feeding. (and if these were really 'growth spurts' which happen at pre-set
times, wouldn't we expect to see this on population growth charts???).

I really doubt whether these days happen at set times. In my experience
women say things like 'he fed a lot today and he is 13 days old, so this
must be the 10 day growth spurt'.

Some days babies want to feed more. Other days they don't. Kind of like
other people. (Only in my case, not so many of the 'don't' days, thus
explaining my shape.)

Does this help or hinder? You will find growth spurts in plenty of books,
but I remain unconvinced.

By the way, I have a nice picture of lactnetters in Vienna and you are both
in it!

Magda Sachs
