Robin,

Have you thought about the gel pads?  I used those when I had my daughter, 
and I absolutely loved them!  I had 2 pairs going at a time, one I kept in the 
fridge, so I could alternate.  I found them to be very soothing for the sore 
nipple, and find that I recommend them often.  I tried Lanolin once, and 
absolutely hated it.  It was too slippery, and my daughter would slip off, 
resulting in a shallow latch and of course more pain.  I've cautioned mothers 
of this happening, especially for those having problems with latch already...
