I have used it only once. Mom had a c/s was swollen with extra fluid. Had
fibrous non-pliable breast tissue and couldn't really get it to soften on her
own. Nice term baby determined to latch despite the challenge. Mom was on
her back fresh from the OR and I layed baby on her chest. MOms are so
helpless with all those IV's in their hands and blood pressure cuffs on. I was
excited to see how this Baby latched beautifully on right side first w/o it.
Nipple pulled out nicely all on its own round with no pinching or lipstick look. I
always tell moms baby's are not nipple feeding, they are breast feeding of
course, but the left side was traumatized (bruised and red) from
poor/inexperienced help. I showed mom and dad how to use it. As soon as
we put in on, great big drops of colostrum came out, which always pleases
moms. When I called them later that night to check in with them, they said it
worked great and just needed to use it once. Things went so well
w/breastfeeding I didn't even need to see them prior to discharge. They were
very excited about their breastfeeding success!

You clean it like anything else ie breastpump equipment, warm soapy water.
It is just a suction cup. I didn't buy it Lansinoh gave it to me. Its just like
using the old syringe trick, and negative pressure. I guess it worked a tad
better than the breast pump. Don't think I would ever purchase one. Ya,
they do look like a horn..ha, ha.

Yes one more "gadget"

best,
robin
