The Illinois State Historical Society is hosting its annual Illinois History Symposium in East Peoria, Illinois, from April 26-28, 2012. The title of this year's symposium is "Contested Lands: 1763-1840" which focuses on the history and archaeology of the War of 1812 era in Illinois.
