One of many sacred and secret places you’ll discover in Egypt.

On the road to Aswan in Egypt is the temple of Kom Ombo. Most spectacular of the river temples, Kom Ombo is unique in its river bank setting, but also in its design. It is a double temple dedicated to two gods, Harwer (Horus the Elder) and Sobek, the crocodile god. Pilgrims came to Kom Ombo to be treated by Harwer, as healer.

At the rear of the temple is the chapel of the Hearing Ear. Carvings of ears in the rock wall heard pilgrim’s prayers – and inside the temple, a tunnel under the floor leads to a small room where the human voice of the god responded to the pleas of petitioners.

Following our tour of Egypt, October 13 - 28, 2012, we are adding the option for a five day extension to the Best of Jordan: the Rose-Red city of Petra. Petra is one of the most extraordinary and fascinating complexes of the ancient world, You will pass through an immense sandstone gorge which opens to reveal the city of Petra carved in solid sandstone.

Thanks to film director Steven Spielberg, some of the most spectacular scenes in the film, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade were set in Petra.

All this follows our 16 day trip to Egypt. For the fully illustrated itinerary, visit our Web site: www.AncientEmpires-Tours.com or email your mailing address to [log in to unmask] for the brochure.
