We received almost 100 haiku in response to our September
Cheaper-with-a-Haiku book sale. We're pleased to announce the three winning
entries, whose authors will be given a Left Coast paperback of their choice.
The rest of our contestants should have received a secret-yes, secret-code
to get an additional 10% discount on our books.

A few contestants struggled with the two simple rules of the contest: must
be a 5-7-5 syllable haiku and has to include the phrase "left coast." Other
than those, judging was difficult, given the high quality of the
submissions..and the fact that people with degrees in anthropology ,
environmental studies, or museum studies should never judge a poetry
contest. Our apologies to those who felt we missed the brilliance of your
work. The full set of haiku (and almost haiku) we received is posted on our
Facebook page at
http://www.facebook.com/LeftCoastPress
Why don't you join us on FB as long as you're there?
The 30% discount sale runs through September 30. We'll still accept a haiku
in exchange for an additional 10% off, even if you can't win the contest.
And thanks to all the talented participants for enlivening our month.
