I haven't been following this thread closely, but I see the subject has 
evolved to GIS training.  If no one has mentioned this yet, I'll pass on 
that ESRI offers online training in what they call a Virtual Campus.  I took 
a 5 hour "Migrating from ArcView to ArcGIS" course back in 2003.  It was 
extremely useful in learning the new software and it was free.  You do need 
a copy of ESRI GIS software to take the course.  They offer 60 day trial 
copies, also free.

With regard to GPS training, this too is often available from manufacturers 
reps and distributors.  I'd check with a Trimble distributor in your area to 
see if there are any hands-on seminars for potential buyers. Many of the 
newer survey grade GPS receivers integrate base maps and GIS data in the 
position collection systems.  It would be worth a trip just to look at the 
latest gizzies.
