Window sash weights? They could be weights for a balance scale, but I would expect to see the weight denoted.

A client sent us (lousy) photos of two cast iron objects that appear to
be counter-weights of some sort.  Has anyone ever seen something like
this? The only provenience information we have is that they were found
on two separate but close by house sites in an upland setting in Clayton
