Assistant/Associate Professor in Dept. of Social Sciences
The Department of Social Sciences at Michigan Technological University
seeks a tenure-track faculty member in historic preservation,
architectural history, or public history to join an interdisciplinary
social sciences faculty.
The Department of Social Sciences is home to M.S. programs in
Industrial Archaeology and Environmental Policy and a Ph.D. program in
Industrial Heritage and Archaeology. It offers undergraduate programs
in anthropology, history, and social science. The successful applicant
will teach undergraduate courses in his or her field and contribute to
graduate teaching and research. Potential areas of expertise might
include historic preservation planning and local economic development;
historic site development, interpretation, and management; recording
and preserving structures; cultural memory and industry; identity and
sense of place in industrial landscape; and the historic interface
between industry and environment. This is a tenure-track position at
the Assistant/Associate Professor level, beginning August 2009. Ph.D.
expected at time of appointment.
