Bob,
The north wall is about 75% complete, the west wall is pretty messed up,
only a small are of the south wall has been investigated (chapel) and next to
nothing is known of the east wall. Modern parking and monument construction has
impacted the east wall. A 1920s bathroom impacted the west wall and a modern
street passed over the southwest corner and up the plaza and across the north
wall of the Presidio de San Diego. Yet, a good deal is left for future
archaeologists. A technical problem is the cemetery, which extended across the
chapel and into the plaza area.

This is great news! Hope it stimulates a lot of interest in finishing the
archaeology and then reconstructing. Of the four presidios in Alta
California, San Francisco and Monterey are largely destroyed and excavation
would
intrude on later occupation (also historical). Santa Barbara is partially
preserved and partially disturbed by later building. It is also located in
one of
the most expensive real estate areas of the state. You guys have the best
chance for a complete presidio!
Good luck.
