I do not have the chain on this so perhaps you have general references on Hawaiians in the Northwest from previous discussions. In one of the volumes on Fur Trade in North America there is a paper on the Hawaii-Washington connection. I believe it was presented at the Montreal conference, and if not mistaken the English title for the volume is Lest the Beaver Run Loose. Perhaps Google would be an imrpvement on my poor memory.

I have a contact in Hawaii who is connected with one of the royal families.
Perhaps they could help?

Caryn,
I would like to see some pictures, recently worked in Hawaii and am
interested in the rock formation. Last year heard a paper from a fellow in
Washington
State who had found that one of the earliest burials in the Northwest
territory was of a Hawaiian who drown. Apparently some of the place names
in
Washington State are Hawaiian, so Montana is not that far off.
