My soon to be published book by Rutgers University Press "New Jersey
Cemeteries and Tombstones : History in the Landscape" has such a
typology and illustrates markers from the late 17th through 20th
centuries. My co-author Mark Nonestied and I made extensive use of
historic catalogs and advertisements as well as surviving gravemarkers.
Although our focus was New Jersey, much of the information in the book
is much more widely applicable.

All the best,

Rich Veit
