Hello all,
I just wanted to go ahead and thank everyone who has replied/commented, both on- and off-list. There have been some really great points and conversation so far, and (as I had hoped) different viewpoints/backgrounds represented. I'd still love to hear more opinions on the question, and please feel free to email me anonymously off-list! There are some complicated issues here, though, that I think will provide challenging discussion in class.

I'm going to hold off on giving my own opinion now so as not to influence any others' responses, but I will chime back in with that relatively soon.
