Mark your calendars for the annual Archaeological Society of Delaware
meeting to be held on May 22nd. At this meeting the majority of talks will be
discussing the findings from the Phase IB archaeological surveys conducted by
Archaeological & Historical Consultants, Inc., Hunter Research, Inc. and
Richard Grubb & Associates. The proposed alignment and borrow areas have
located numerous historic sites ranging from the late 17th century to the early
20th century. Site types include landings, fords, cart routes, farmsteads,
tenant farms, Pre-Civil War free-black households, brick clamps, brickyards,
rail lines and shell button manufacturing.
