If Bill was right, and I was seeing AHB hybrids in MT, yes, they certainly
survived the cold winters. The beekeeper was loath to eliminate - great
honey producers, but so mean he left them way off to the side from the other
hives, worked them last.
Unfortunately, they were there for all of the years that I sampled that
yard from early to late 1970s. At that time, our beekeepers didn't migrate.
I think I and his crews kept hoping that winter would take those mean bees
out.
