Hello All,
In the Midwest flows from soybeans are not always dependable but at times
the flow can be substantial.
The bees enter the field from the edge and fly down the rows many times.
Flows start early in the day around ten am and can end early around 1 PM but
all beekeeping is local.
The purple varieties the bees seem to work the most.
I never locate only on soybean fields in my area. I always seek out the
yellow & white sweet clover. White Dutch is not always dependable in my area
but if in abundance does help me in locating yards.
Black Locust trees will also influence my decision for a yard location. The
better the forage the larger number of hives in a single area.
Normal maximum load for my area is 6 pallets ( 24 hives) but a good area can
support twice as many in a yard
.
In the Mississippi Delta I have seen a yard of 80 hives produce three supers
each of soybean honey in some years. (personal observation).
