Hi Nan,

Several enormous New Jersey cemeteries have been excavated and moved over the last few years. I do not have complete references but expect that the Deb Fimbel at the HPO would. Some that immediately come to mind are the Snake Hill Burial Ground in Secaucus--now the site of a new train station. This was a Louis Berger and Associates Project. Gerry Scharfenberger directed much of the work and would be a good resource. Construction of the new New Jersey Devils Stadium in downtown Newark lead to the excavation of a large early 19th century burial ground--ironic isn't it. Again, Louis Berger was one of the firms involved. There was also an unsuccessful attempt to move another large Newark cemetery when the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJ PAC) was constructed. The PAC did go up but what had been planned as an excavation of the cemetery turned into something less. The data recovered from the Snake Hill Burial Ground is quite illuminating and reflects the value of this sort of work. There have also been numerous smaller projects.

Good luck with your project,

Rich
