How does that compare to the longevity of other queens, or do you follow
them as closely?"
Generally the longevity of Glenn Apiary I.I. queens (queen becomes a
drone layer or is superseded in 2nd year) is similar to what I see with
open mated queens. By my observation, the breeder queens perform as well
as non I.I. queens, except for the pure VSH queens, whose hives lack
vigor as has been described before. The daughters raised from the pure
VSH queens perform quite well, with noticeably less PMS problems than
pure Italian hives.
