I think that the drug you alluded to is coumadin, aka warfarin sodium ,which is prescribed to diminish clotting in blood and thereby reduce the risk of stroke in, among others, patients with irregular heartbeats.  I have used both coumadin and bee sting therapy for arthritic fingers for about a decade and have not noticed any ill effects.
