John two of my 6 nephews, ages 12-18, watched (with me) La Boheme and on
2 other occasions) Carmen and Marriage of Figaro. They liked them in this
order: first Carmen, then La Boheme (these were a close vote). In third
place was the Mozart. They admitted to liking all three works. Basically,
I told them the story line and fast forwarded through some areas that I
thought were a bit much for their mindset. Anyway, I wanted you to know
that they have a better attitude towards opera, and I think, there is a
chance - if nothing else - that in their future, they won't be one of those
"bashing" opera. I hope you do as well or better with your class. Best of
luck.
