The contribution of Glinka that most interests and stimulates me is in
the field of opera, the work of greater excitement being "Russlan and
Ludmilla."

His two operas were being composed and performed about the time Mussorgsky
was born and a long time before the era of Tchaikovsky, with a legacy of a
clear artistic path through the operatic works of these later composers.

Cordially,

Harry Davis
