Didn't Bernstein also do W. Schuman's Symphony #8? I know he recorded it.
He (Bernstein) was fond of saying that "the last great symphony was written
in 1945" (a statement with which I most adamantly disagree), and this could
explain the absence of many American symphonies from his programs.
