Does anyone know pieces by French composer Leon BOELLMANN (1862-1897)? He
seems to be commonly known as an organ composer. However I found his music
for soprano and piano noteworthy: as I attended a concert a few weeks ago,
I discovered part of his compositions. Among them: 'Mai'op.33, 'Lamento'
op.34, 'My Beloved', 'Love tale' op.26 and 'Our love', adapted from a poem
by Armand SILVESTRE.

The music was deeply nuanced, tinged with melancholy, emphasising feelings,
as sometimes do melodic themes in FAURE or DEBUSSY works.

Romantic and symbolist atmospheres both appeared in a subtle convincing
tone in his sonata op.40 for cello and piano. For the sheer delight of
music lovers.

Best wishes,
Stephanie BENISTANT.
