You can do it. I have run my own trials but to compare overwintering in
Maine with open or closed screen bottoms.So it is not rocket
science.(Closed works better but bees can make it through a Maine winter
with open screens.I can't.)
Truth is, most of what I have seen shows that screened bottoms only
delay the inevitable. You will also find that most who have success with
them and credit the screens also treat, which is the real reason for low
mite loads.I do use screens but closed below them so they act like a
solid bottom. The best of both worlds.
If the Fox pre-game show was not so lame I would never have turned on my
