We use clear fluorescent light covers (~3ft long) capped with PVC caps on both ends. Works well for augered soils. These are easily stored and very transportable when doing talks about various types of soils around the area.

Subject: Soil cross-section display

*****************************************************************************

Does anyone have suggestions for constructing a display showing layers
of soil in cross-section? We'd like to show in general terms the layers
of soil -- from topsoil down to bedroock -- underneath our region. Some
kind of tall transparent planter? A terrarium? Has anyone done this or
seen it done creatively elsewhere?
