You can also add food coloring to the top of a block of ice to see the melting process better. Sprinkle salt on a block of ice to compare to one without salt. Place one block of ice on a square of insulation and another block of ice on a square of aluminum to compare (similar to the small black ice melting blocks you can purchase.) Put some items in a solar cooker to compare melting at even hotter temperatures.
