I wore a tuxedo to a "Black-Tie Encouraged" event three years ago in Miami.
There were about 500 attendees and I was the only attendee who actually wore
one.

Subject: Black Tie Events?
ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related
institutions.

My board is considering changing a successful annual fundraising event from
a weekday evening, business dress, to a Saturday night, black-tie optional.
(Personally, I think an event should be either black-tie, or not: black-tie
optional is too ambiguous.) Have any of you had experience with "formal"
events? Any stories out there, good, bad or ugly?
Thanks,
Douglas Heuser
