Hi,
I'm forwarding this announcement from AAM for any other interested museum
professionals.
AAM's Center for the Future of Museums (CFM) urges museum professionals to
prepare the field for the next decade by joining Superstruct, a multiplayer
online game from the Institute for <http://www.iftf.org/> the Future
(IFTF). Using its forecasting expertise, IFTF, a nonprofit research center
based in Palo Alto, Calif., has created a storyline highlighting five
plausible but alarming "superthreats" that could confront the world in 2019.
Building on these scenarios, CRM will provide a plot specific to museums.
Participants can use forums, blogs, videos, wikis and other online
applications to plan how museums would overcome future challenges.
Visit the Superstruct <http://www.superstructgame.org/> website for more
information on joining the game, which launches Oct. 6. The more museum
professionals involved in the game during its six-week run, the deeper and
more accurate the content generated will be. AAM will work with IFTF to
summarize and report on solutions and use them as the basis of further
planning and discussion with the field.
Superstruct is the first Massively Multiplayer Forecasting Game (MMFG), a
system designed to help solve real-world problems by harnessing the
collective wisdom of participants and creating a collaborative, open-source
simulation of a possible future. For more information about the game's
museum-specific elements, visit the AAM <http://www.aam-us.org/cff.cfm>
website or e-mail the Center for the Future of Museums at
