Dear Historical Archaeology Colleagues:

Benjamin C. Pykles' book "The Mormons and the Rise of Historical Archaeology in America" was just released by the University of Nebraska Press. If you are interested in the history of historical archaeology this is a significant new book which examines an important period in the history of our discipline. It is particularly interesting as both a case study of historical archaeology at an often overlooked site, and for what it says about the development and professionalization of our field. Congratulations to Ben Pykles on a fine book.

Rich Veit
