Have any Histarchers read today's NY Times piece on the Brooklyn
fireman who digs privies as a hobby?

http://nytimes.com/packages/html/nyregion/1-in-8-million/index.html?hp&hp#

In the comments section there is a lively back and forth going on
between archaeologists (Among others, Peter Bleed has posted a
comment) and those who see amateur excavation as harmless or even a
positive development in historical preservation.
