I've got a couple more mystery artifacts that someone out there might
recognize or be able to figure out. They are posted on:
http://archaeoseek.ning.com/profile/JamesDAngelo. They are a cast iron
"leg" and a cast brass fitting from the Fort Daniel site (late 18th -
early 19th, subsequently farmed until about the 1960's) and what a
appears to be a Dutch trade item. It (was) silver-plated copper and may
have held a mirror. This was my first "archaeological" find when I was
10 years old. It was recovered from the backdirt of excavation for a new
house. The area, in Belleville, NJ, was Lenape territory at the time
the Dutch were across the Hudson in "New Amsterdam." I would like to
confirm that that is what it was. So far Google searches have been of no
help.
