I totally disagree with David Parkhill's assessment of the closing of state
parks in Illinois.  If the Illinois legislature was concerned for the
"welfare of the masses" as Mr. Parkhill says  then they would be funding
state parks, historics sites, etc. because this inexpensive or free
(depending on the state) leisure opportunity (and excellent public
education) is for those very masses.  State parks and historic sites are
for everyone and it is the poor and middle class who are hurt most by the
lack of funding for these areas because the wealthy can afford other
avenues for entertainment and education.
