Yes, I am familiar with these recordings, and they are quite lovely.
Davrath had a beautiful voice, rather like Victoria De Los Angeles's. And
she's very much at home in these charming folk song settings. She never
tries to pretend that she's singing Norma or Isolde. As a whole, I find
the songs monotonous--they're all rather slow and contemplative--though I
suppose if you like Berlioz's Nuits d'ete, you'll like this as well. (On
the whole, I prefer the more earthy settings of two Auvergne songs that
Luciano Berio included in his delightful work called simply "Folk Songs".)
Nonetheless, I still find them enchanting in batches of two or three at a
time. I believe that Davrath's recording has been reissued on a Vanguard
CD; I still have the original LPs.
