I am looking for a replacement material for iron filings.  We have an exhibit in our Space Gallery that uses iron filings in a circular drum which are distributed onto a couple of planets to show where the magnetic poles are relative to axis of rotation.  
 
In order to deposit them on the tops of the planets, we have rotating drum that picks up the filing and then drops them onto the planets which have an electromagnet inside.  The problem that we are running into is that the Plexiglas face plate only stays clean for about 2 - 3 days and then starts to cloud over from the fine iron dust that has been produced.  
 
If anyone has some suggestions I would really appreciate it.  If you would like a picture of what I am talking about please e-mail me off list.
