We're two musicologists at Vanderbilt University who are writing a book on
the social history of American orchestras. We want to know what attending
the symphony means to you. We're interested in what you notice about the
performers themselves, and would be particularly interested in stories
about changes you've noticed at the symphony over time.
Many studies have talked about conductors, soloists, and repertory; our
hope is to highlight the role of the players themselves and the perception
of those players by the community.
Please respond privately to Cynthia Cyrus.
Thanks for your help!
