Deryk Barker wrote, of Le Sacre recordings:
>Then there's Pierre Boulez: I like both his Cleveland recordings (Sony
>1969ish and DG 1993ish) equally, although it is said that his French
>recording from c1960 is even better, but I've never managed to come

Berkshire Record Outlet was offering it and I picked up a copy of that
and his Les Noces (sung in French). Both Boulez recordings appeared, as
Deryk mentions, about 1960 in the US on the Nonesuch label. The Le Sacre,
I believe, made people begin to look at Boulez as a major conductor. I'd
been trying to find the CDs for years. Finally got them on, I think, the
French Ades label. The storm is still there, but the CDs retain all the
faults of the Nonesuch recordings, particularly as to sound - boxy,
constricted. I'd still go with Boulez/Cleveland #1 on Sony.
I might also mention Monteux's superb recording on RCA with, as I recall,
the BSO. Terrific.
