ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************
I was asked to share the responses I received; thank you all for your
help!!
* Chicago History Museum: "Thursday is the new Friday" for young,
hip events; while heavier topics are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They
avoid summer months.
* Rochester Museum & Science Center: has a Distinguished Scholars
program, Wednesday evenings Jan-April, occasionally May. (When they get
as late as May, the numbers drop).
* Arizona Science Center: Wednesday and Friday Adult lectures are
equally well attended; attendance is steered more by topic than by night
of the week.
* Science Museum of Virginia: Wednesday night is best; Tuesday and
Thursday evenings have been "a bust." Avoid Jan, May-Aug, and late
November and all of December.
* William McKinley Library & Museum, OH: Thursday at 7pm
* Cincinnati Museum: Thursdays, Sept-Nov and Jan-May; moving from
7pm to 7:30. They avoid Dec for their own schedules as well as the
visitors. New visitors can sign up to be on their email list at each
lecture.
* Children's Museum, West Hartford, CN: Thursday night; they
alter the time seasonally so they can do an observing session after.
Other information I looked up specific to space science lectures:
* Smithsonian: Exploring Space Lectures, Tuesday 8pm (March -June)
* Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, Tucson: Tuesday (partially to
avoid conflicts with other campus public lectures) 7:30pm
* Space Telescope Science Institute: (Hubble Public Talks) 8pm
Tuesday monthly except summer.
