ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

I am aware that measuring tools have been used by many museums as a
part of different math related exhibits. Are there any rules of thumb
that I can apply to a set of new exhibits the Exploratorium is
currently prototyping?

For example:
Wooden rulers break
Measuring tape works better than a ruler
Visitors don't know where to start the measurement so the start-point
needs to be very obvious
etc

Thanks for any hints and lessons learned.
