Charles S. Bradley's article entitled Smoking Pipes for the Archaeologist (page
118) list several English pipe makers including John Williams of London
(1828-1842) and William Williams of London (1823-1864).
Here is the full citation:

Arcaheology. California, Pennsylvania.
Hope this is helpful :)

Recovered from house site in Williamstown, Victoria, Australia, from demolition rubble of chimney dated 1840s-60s. Clay pipe marked "Williams" on one side of stem and "London" on the other.
Can anyone help with a source for the manufacturer and possible date range?
Thankyou in anticipation
