Dear HISTARCHers,

Is anyone organizing a session on Spanish colonial archaeology for the 2010 SHA meetings in Florida? I am looking for a session in which to present my recent research at Galveztown, an 18th/19th-century (ca. 1779-1825) Spanish colonial outpost in Louisiana. The village at Galveztown was inhabited primarily by Canary Islanders (Isleņos), recruited by the Spanish to serve as soldiers and settlers in Louisiana. We have just finished our second field season at the site and I would like to present some of our early findings.

Alternatively, if anyone is interested co-organizing such a session, let me know and we can explore the possibilities.

Best,
Rob Mann
